Phonearena N900 recension "We are not going to beat about the bush, because we guess you must be exhausted from the long reading. The Nokia N900 is definitely an exceptional device that lends color to the cell phone market. With its incredible internet browser, ability to deliver phone call functionality over cellular networks, almost impeccable in-call quality, handy multitasking and proper multimedia capabilities, the N900 has what it takes to become a fearsome rival to even the cream of the crop smartphone range."
"All told, we think the N900 is worth its price and will probably become a really popular internet tablet that offers rich functionality, quite close to what smartphones deliver, although we still find it hard to believe the device will actually manage to replace smartphones entirely. Not just yet. If Nokia improves the interface so that it´s fully functional in portrait mode, finds enough developers willing to put efforts into applications for Maemo 5 and adds proper organizer app, then the N900 and all future devices with running the mentioned operating system would definitely stand a fair chance of taking over the cell phone world."

GSM Arena N900 recension "The Nokia N900 is different from anything else we have seen recently in the touch phone market. Better yet, it's different with a purpose. The Maemo platform is all about simplicity and multitasking - we guess that's music to the ears of power users. The Maemo will certainly seem unusual but - take our word - never unfriendly.
Of course there are a few shortcomings left to fix but the internet tablet background has made sure none of them is a deal-breaker."
"There are very few handsets we would so much as consider against the N900 for Internet browsing. Its tablet roots are strong enough to take care of that. The N900 has put Maemo on the mobile platform map and has finally given Nokia an edge in the catch-up game they've been playing with their controversy-ridden Symbian S60 5th so far. Nokia now have two touch platforms to work with and we have front row seats. We can hardly wait."

NokNok N900 recension "We’ve been playing with the Nokia N900 for the last few days and found this first hit of the new Maemo 5 OS to be nothing short of astonishing. We may have started out being a little ‘anti-tablet’ but the Nokia N900 has easily cured us of that feeling."
"So, is the Nokia N900 here to save the world? It’s a great first attempt and definitely pushes Nokia in the right direction. Sure, the lack of apps and the resistive screen are obvious flaws but as a first-generation device, we think the Nokia N900 is winner!"

CNet N900 recension It's early days for the Maemo 5 operating system, and the Nokia N900 isn't the most straightforward phone out there. Its app store is just getting started, and it's designed to be a two-handed typing machine, rather than a handset for single-fisted use on the move. But it packs a fresh user interface, a decent keyboard, heaps of memory and great connectivity into a stylish, if slightly chunky, body. Getting in the N900 elevator on the ground floor may mean a bumpy ride as new features and apps come your way, but we think that Maemo's already so good that it has the potential to go all the way to the top.

We liked
"But, if we're being honest, it does actually do some things that at least match, if not better, the iPhone - not least the fact it has a physical keyboard and the ability to play Flash content. We very much liked this phone, especially the internet browser developed in part by Mozilla. Pages rendered at blistering speed, the navigation was seamless and you feel you can lean on the N900 in a way not many other phones could withstand.
We also liked the chassis in a guilty pleasure way - yes it's big and thick, but at least you know it's in your pock... hey, where did it go?
We liked the simple-to-use menus, we liked the way you simply needed to touch a blurry bit of the screen to exit a menu, and we especially love the multi-tasking that appeared to know no limits."
We disliked
"However, every reaction has an equal and opposite reaction - the phone is not without its flaws. The size is a real issue and will be a deal breaker for some people.
For all the grunt under the hood, there were times when the Nokia N900 slowed down to an annoying degree, especially when trying to use the history function on the web browser. At one point the phone actually crashed for a minute - we don't know what was happening there but it was very annoying.
The battery life needs to be picked up drastically, and we'd like to see some support for MMS in the future, as well as an FM radio in there for good measure."

Toms Guide N900 recension "The N900 is the do-anything device—it is a handset that lets you surf the Web as easily as you do on your laptop. It makes phone calls over your cell provider or through Skype. It’s open source, so there are no enforced limitations to the applications that are available. It both plays and streams all types of media, and plugs into your TV. It’s a powerful piece of machinery. It’s the best compromise between laptop and phone we’ve seen."
"Nokia’s N900 is a good, strong contender in today’s smart phone war, even if it’s expensive at $569 and lacks a pre-existing application ecosystem. It’s the kind of phone our friends at Tom’s Hardware would use daily, the kind you expect to see your IT guy walk around with. But until it can catch up to today’s devices with synchronization and apps, it will remain out of the hands of the smart phone-toting masses."

Mobile Tech Review N900 recension
"The N900 is what we'd hoped the Nokia N97 would have been: seriously impressive hardware matched with a fresh touch-based operating system. I'll stop just short of saying that the N900 puts the N97 and N97 Mini to shame because the N97 line has stronger phone features and these are phones, after all. But in every other way, the N900 is superior thanks to its truly modern, touch-optimized OS, fast CPU, excellent video playback performance, best in class web browser, Adobe Flash support and seamless switching between cellular and WiFi networks. If you're looking for a pocket computer first and a phone second, the Nokia N900, though still immature, earns a place with the HTC HD2, Motorola Droid and even the iPhone 3GS."

ZDNet N900 recensionn "I am the kind of person who likes to push my devices to the limits and also likes to tinker with settings and more. If you want a basic smartphone, then the N900 is probably not for you. However, if you want a smartphone that can do just about everything and has huge potential for getting even better then the N900 is definitely something you may want to consider."
"A real testament to whether or not I truly find a device to be worth the price is whether or not I buy one myself after spending time with one. I am happy to say I just ordered my own Nokia N900 the other day since this evaluation unit has to go back in a couple weeks and I can’t stand the thought of not having the N900 with me."

CNet Australia N900 recension "For users who don't mind spending a little time getting to know a new system, the Nokia N900 is truly outstanding. We wouldn't dream of giving it to mum for Christmas, but it's definitely a phone we want to spend more time with ourselves. We've waited a long time to find a phone with the N900's capabilities matched with its stellar performance. The N900 is pushing smartphones to genius levels. If Nokia can convince software developers that Maemo is the next big thing this could be the system that both Apple and Google have to worry about."
